ATH: Caputo to Coach Men's Tennis, Assist with Basketball

BUENA VISTA, Va. (Aug. 6, 2008) – Southern Virginia University athletic director Tom Longenecker has announced that Tony Caputo will serve as head men’s tennis coach and assistant men's basketball coach in addition to his role as director of athletic recruiting.   Caputo made the move to the athletic department in April 2008. He previously served as dean of admissions and financial aid, a position he held since 1999. Caputo was the assistant dean for one year before becoming the dean of admissions.

FB: Knights Conduct Camp in Buena Vista

BUENA VISTA, Va. (Aug. 1, 2008) – This week the Southern Virginia football coaching staff put on a football camp for middle school and high school students in Buena Vista. It was the first football camp conducted by Knight coaches. “It was a good opportunity for the kids to come out and get ready for their upcoming season and it was great for us to interact with the community,” Southern Virginia head coach Mike Smith said. “We had a pretty good turnout and we hope to expand what we did this year into something better over the next few years.”

ATH: Update on Practice Fields

BUENA VISTA, Va. (July 30, 2008) – The road leading to Southern Virginia's new practice fields northeast of main campus is near completion and construction crews have begun leveling the ground for the fields. See the progress being made in the photos below.
